ArmInfo. The "Tavush for the Motherland " initiative demands that the Armenian law enforcement agencies investigate a report accusing Primate of the Diocese of Tavush, His Holiness (Srbazan) Bagrat Galstanyan of committing a crime
The initiative's statement notes that on April 27, an eight-minute video report entitled "Bagrat Srbazan's connection with the KGB(Committee for State Security (CSS) ); who is he and what does he want to achieve?" was posted on YouTube.
"In this report, a person introducing himself as "journalist" David Levonyan makes false and unfounded accusations and slander against the Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
The man in question accuses Bagrat Srbazan of "being an agent of the Russian KGB, receiving millions of dollars from the Kremlin to incite the Armenian-Azerbaijani war."
This is nothing more than a report of a grave crime. According to Part 4 of Article 173 of the RA Criminal Code, publication in the media is grounds for initiating a criminal case.
Thus, we demand that law enforcement agencies, based on the statement of the said person, within 24 hours either bring Bagrat Srbazan to criminal responsibility or bring David Levonyan and the electronic platform Civic News to criminal responsibility under Article 476 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for giving false testimony," the initiative's statement reads.
