ArmInfo.Deminers carrying out mine clearance work in Tavush in many cases refuse to carry out mine demining activites, and some have written letters of resignation. This was reported to journalists by Hayastan faction MP Garnik Danielyan, who is now in Kirants on the blocked road leading to Voskepar.
He recalled that on April 25 there was a tense situation in Kirants, citizens tried to build defensive points to prevent the military from carrying out demining.
In this vein, he stated that no mine clearance work was carried out in Kirants yesterday, but they were carried out in the Berkaber section where the tragic incident occurred. One of the deminers lost a foot while clearing mines
"We have information that these days many deminers refuse to carry out mine clearance work. Some are already writing statements and quitting their jobs. Some of them simply refuse to do this work. After the mentioned incident, they had a discussion, a meeting, the employees said that they don't want to do this work. These people understand that by carrying out mine clearance work, they become accomplices of the current government. By removing these mines, they invite Azerbaijanis to their villages and cities," Danielyan noted.
The MP also noted that all citizens living in these villages have official property documents issued by the state.
"Citizens are outraged that these authorities are so incompetent that they haven't come up with anything better than to say that these property documents are fake," he noted, calling on citizens to continue the fight for the sake of truth.
Residents of the border villages of Tavush have been holding protests on the Armenia-Georgia interstate road on the Kiran-Voskepar section since April 19. They oppose the border delimitation option agreed upon by Yerevan and Baku, as a result of which strategic heights will pass to Azerbaijan and Armenian villages will be completely or partially surrounded. Residents of Tavush have been spending the seventh night on the blocked Voskepar-Kirants road.
In addition, actions of disobedience broke out throughout the country demanding an end to unilateral concessions to the enemy. The police are harshly dispersing the protesters. On April 19, the commissions for demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to begin demarcation of the border from the Tavush region. According to them, the description of these sections of the border line will be drawn up taking into account the clarification of the coordinates that will be obtained as a result of geodetic measurements on site. All this will be documented in the appropriate protocol description, which must be agreed upon and signed between the parties before May 15 of this year. Let us add that in this area, Armenia is unilaterally surrendering the country's sovereign territories, fixed by the same Alma-Ata Declaration, without receiving anything in return, including guarantees of non- aggression. People are simply thrown out of their homes in a number of border villages in order to pacify Azerbaijan, depriving them of the opportunity to visit the graves of their ancestors, cultivate their lands, pray in their churches and simply live in safety. And according to experts the greetings of a number of countries in the current conditions look, to put it mildly, blasphemous.
