ArmInfo.Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejcinovic Buric, who is on a visit to Yerevan, discussed regional developments, the process of normalizing Armenian- Azerbaijani relations, and the possibilities of opening regional transport infrastructure.
According to the press service of the head of the RA Cabinet of Ministers, Pashinyan welcomed Marija Pejcinovic Buric's visit to Armenia and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Council of Europe. The interlocutors touched upon the implementation of the Armenia-Council of Europe Action Plan for 2023-2026 and steps to implement the agenda of democratic reforms in Armenia. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the commitment and political will of the government of the Republic of Armenia. Touching upon the busy agenda of cooperation with the Council of Europe, the Prime Minister emphasized the role of the Council of Europe in solving the problems of orcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh and in providing international support.
Marija Pejcinovic Buric, in turn, emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the Council of Europe and the government of the Republic of Armenia, including in the context of implementing institutional reforms in the Republic of Armenia. According to her, in a period full of challenges for the country, the government of the Republic of Armenia is effectively implementing reforms in various directions.
According to the source, Pashinyan also presented the RA government's "Crossroads of Peace" project and its principles to the guests. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe noted that the "Crossroads of Peace" project may become an important prerequisite for the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process.
At the meeting, issues related to the humanitarian problems of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed, as well as further steps to support the international community in resolving them.
