ArmInfo. Upon receipt of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia, citizens forcibly displaced from Artsakh will not cease to be beneficiaries of the RA government support programs. Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Khachatryan said on March 20 during the government hour, answering questions from parliamentarians, recalling that the government has already implemented 3 programs of financial assistance to refugees from Artsakh.
Moreover, he said that a program for their housing provision will be implemented in the near future, a mandatory condition for which will be citizenship of the Republic of ArmeniaThe Deputy Prime Minister further explained that as long as the citizens receive apartments on a priority basis, the state will continue financial support to cover the needs of households for 3-5 years. "Consequently, the information disseminated that supposedly Artsakh residents will be deprived of financial assistance upon obtaining citizenship does not correspond to reality," he emphasized.
Due to the full-scale military aggression of Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, 2023, which was preceded by a total blockade for 9 months, about 109 thousand citizens of Artsakh were forcibly displaced to Armenia. However, in total, as a result of Azerbaijani aggression, starting from the 44-day Artsakh war in 2020, 150 thousand Artsakh residents were left homeless.
