ArmInfo. The current situation requires serious systemic changes, a complete transformation of the government, the opposition and society as a whole. This was stated by first Minister of Foreign Affairs of independent Armenia Raffi Hovhannisyan in a conversation with journalists during a protest rally of Artsakh residents expelled from their native land on Freedom Square in Yerevan.
The politician emphasized that the Armenian people need to unite not only for the sake of the rights of the people of Artsakh, but there should be an awareness that every Armenian village and city is under threat today. "We must overcome this "smallness" within ourselves and create a nationwide, all-civil, supra-party alternative in the coming days. Otherwise, in this square we will discuss not only the fate of Artsakh, but also the fate of the regions of Armenia," he emphasized.
The former Foreign Minister refused to comment on the Prime Minister's statements about the transfer of villages in the Tavush region to Azerbaijan, noting that the latter is not worthy of this. He emphasized that Nikol Pashinyan implements the policies, demands and negotiating approaches of the neighboring country or countries, threatening the Armenian people with war. The ex-minister stated that if Pashinyan and his team remain in power, at best, only the "Yerevan State" will be left of Armenia.
Raffi Hovhannisyan emphasized that the policy of unilateral concessions pursued by Pashinyan will lead to the destruction of the state, the loses, war and casualties.
Noting that today a protest is taking place demanding protection of the rights of Artsakh residents to return to their home, he called for not allowing residents of Tavush, Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik to share a similar fate.
At the same time, he emphasized that the change of power is just one small step of a big strategy. "But without this step, I don't see new breath, new opportunities for Armenia," he concluded.
