ArmInfo. The security situation around Armenia and the region remains tense, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated at a press conference on March 12.
According to him, responsibility for this environment lies, first of all, with the government of the country. Pashinyan emphasized that when considering the problem, it is necessary to focus on the issue of the legitimacy of the state's borders, beyond which Armenia should not go. Any attempts beyond these borders will lead to the vulnerability of the Armenian state, and to attempts to change the legitimacy of the country's borders.
"We say: everything that is outside our borders is not ours, everything that is within our borders is ours, and we are preparing to ensure our security precisely in this logic," the Prime Minister said, adding that the upcoming work should be based on based on precisely this logic, namely, on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991. It is necessary to decide on the "ground" the outlines of the borders of Armenia, and, as Pashinyan emphasized, to move forward. "This is difficult work, which is accompanied by numerous problems and risks, but we have a clear idea of where the country's borders lie," noted the head of the Armenian government.
Earlier, the office of the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan issued a statement in which it demanded four villages located in the Tavush region of Armenia. "As for the four non-exclave villages of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia - Baganis Ayrum, Ashag Askipara, Kheyrimli and Gezelkhajili, their belonging to Azerbaijan is beyond doubt, and they are subject to immediate release," the deputy prime minister's office indicated.
The villages are located close to the highway connecting Armenia with Georgia and the main gas pipeline.
