ArmInfo.Armenia will abandon litigation with Azerbaijan in international courts after agreeing on the provisions of the peace treaty, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated at a press conference on March 12.
According to him, this issue was and is being discussed between Yerevan and Baku. Armenia's position on this issue is that this issue can be discussed at the very end of the negotiation process, when the provisions of the peace treaty are fully agreed upon and it becomes clear that both parties are ready to sign it, which, according to Pashinyan, is quite logical. "When we reach the finish line of the peace treaty, I do not rule out that such an agreement on a mutual basis will also become the subject of negotiations," the head of government emphasized.
Earlier, the RA representative on international legal issues, Yeghisheh Kirakosyan, reported that in April of this year, hearings in the framework of the claim of Armenia against Azerbaijan will be held at the UN International Court of Justice. A lawsuit has been filed with the UN Court to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. As Kirakosyan recalled, the interstate complaint is related to the propaganda of hatred and xenophobia, the policy of Armenophobia pursued by Azerbaijan for decades. A public hearing on the case is expected in April. Before that, there will be hearings on Azerbaijan's claim against Armenia. Both discussions will take place from April 15 to 26. According to the lawyer, Yerevan presented new evidence of massive violations by Azerbaijan to the UN court.
