ArmInfo. Armenia never raised the issue of armed intervention by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the conflict with Azerbaijan. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated on February 28 during government hour in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, there should be no omissions on this issue: Yerevan has never tried to involve the Organization in military actions. "We acted as required by the CSTO documents. First of all, we expected and expect the political position of the Organization. Moreover, before the incidents of May 2021, we did not raise this issue at all. The CSTO wanted to send its observers to Armenia, but what will they do here, and, most importantly, where? If the CSTO had made a statement on this issue concerning its area of responsibility in Armenia, all other questions would disappear," Pashinyan emphasized. He added that the assessment by the CSTO is also important from the point of view of mediation in the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan. Yerevan is ready to accept the efforts of countries that clearly recognize those principles, those who do not recognize [these principles], Armenia is not ready to accept, because it will bring many new problems. "The seriousness of the CSTO should be demonstrated during the period of challenges faced by one of its members," the RA Prime Minister emphasized.
