On February 13, on the instruction of the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan an examination was initiated regarding human rights violations as a result of the actions of Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of Nerkin Hand, Syunik region, the press service of the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia reports.
As a result of the fire of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of Nerkin Hand, the right to life, to live in a safe environment, to education and other fundamental rights of the civilian population were violated.
The residents told the Defender's staff that the shots were clearly heard, as a result of which they were scared and in a state of uncertainty.
The Defender especially emphasizes that the actions of the armed forces of Azerbaijan represent a real threat from the viewpoint of ensuring the right to life and security of people, education, as well as other fundamental rights. The work of monitoring and collecting facts related to human rights continues in the Office of the Human Rights Defender.
On February 13th, as a result of Azerbaijan's armed forces firing on Armenian combat positions in Nerkin Hand Syunik region) four servicemen were killed and one more was injured from the Armenian side. The condition of the wounded serviceman is assessed as moderate, at the moment his life is not in danger.
