ArmInfo. For the Armenian people, the only topic for discussion should not be the Constitution, but a change of power, Vahe Hovhannisyan, a member of the Alternative Projects group, believes.
According to him, after yesterday's interview with RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the Constitution, there is a great temptation to follow the lead of public sentiment, that is, to discuss, criticize, deny what was said. "This is the wrong path. Nikol formulated his choice: either a new war or a change in the Constitution. This forces us to correctly formulate our proposals. The correct question is not what was said, but who said it. The one who "destroys" The Third Republic, has no right to talk about the "birth" of the Fourth Republic. This is unnatural. The person who proclaimed "Artsakh is Armenia, period> cannot talk about the scale of the war, insisting on excluding Artsakh from our Constitution and consigning it to oblivion," Hovhannisyan notes.
He added that this is precisely the issue, and consolidation should continue with emphasis on this circumstance. "By entering into a substantive discussion on the Constitution, we will make a grave mistake and again give the initiative to Nikol Pashinyan. The whole problem is that the new historical realities, brought to our attention by Nikol Pashinyan, actually require complex solutions, including, possibly, legislative ones. But it's one thing when they are done for the sake of the so-called peace treaty, when we put our own interests at stake, and quite another when the defeated government "squeaks" about dangers in order to save its own skin," the author writes.
Hovannisyan noted that many complex issues can be discussed within the framework of a peace treaty.
"Let me say more: you can even discuss the clause of the Constitution concerning Artsakh if the right of Artsakh Armenians to live prosperously in their homeland is guaranteed by an agreement and real guarantees. But the path that Aliyev and Nikol are jointly imposing on the Armenian people today is not the creation of a Fourth Republic, and the creation of a republic of animals, in which society will be replaced by an involuntary herd. Aliyev and Nikol want to make "new gypsies" out of the Armenian people. They have drawn a "road map" of conditions and are pushing it forward. If the demand for constitutional changes is met, then the very next day Aliyev will put forward new humiliating conditions (I can list the list even today). This is the problem, and at the end of this process we will not achieve peace, but as a nation we will receive some kind of semi-animal status and will be scattered around the world. The only way to disrupt this "road map" is "Aliyev - to change this government. Then there will be a phase of resolving difficult issues, also a phase of painful decisions, but these will be decisions, not national humiliation," Hovhannisyan writes.
