ArmInfo. Armenia must not consign the issue of Nagorno Karabakh to oblivion, Armenia's former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian said in a video message.
He noted that currently it seems that the Armenian authorities are trying to close the Artsakh issue, especially against the backdrop of the Arab-Israeli confrontation. "This happens because we ourselves do not pay due attention to it. Today, Armenia has gone deeper into solving everyday problems, rather than solving geopolitical problems," the ex-minister noted, adding that at present parallels are often drawn between the events in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the French Foreign Ministry announced its readiness to raise the issue of the safe return of Armenians to Artsakh in the UN Security Council. Recently, the European Parliament issued a statement talking about the Artsakh problem. "In other words, the international community is showing interest in this issue, but if we ourselves do not constantly raise this topic, then the international community will very soon forget about it, abandoning it," the politician emphasized.
Vardan Oskanyan added that the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh is a question of the dignity of the Armenian people. "RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is making another mistake, trying to close the topic of Artsakh. He does not want to admit his mistakes, as a result of which the Armenian people suffer more than serious losses every time. Pashinyan doesn't want to listen to anyone. In 2018-2020, he left aside all available documents on Nagorno-Karabakh, which ultimately led to a disastrous 44-day war, after which he signed a tripartite statement on November 9, 2020 with his own hand. And even now, after 4-5 major miscalculations, Pashinyan does not want to listen to anyone, "continuing his flawed policy," Mr Oskanian said.
Vardan Oskanyan considers this a dangerous trend. "The Armenian leadership and the prime minister are making a fatal mistake by "closing" this topic," the politician emphasized.
Let us recall that as a result of another aggression by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, over 100 thousand Armenians left the region. The day before, in Stepanakert, against the backdrop of an empty city, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev raised the flag of his country.
