ArmInfo.The EU stands ready to assist Armenia in the effective implementation of the government's priorities. EU Ambassador to Armenia Mrs. Andrea Wiktorin stated this during the meeting with Minister of the Environment of the Republic of Armenia Romanos Petrosyan.
According to the press service of the Environmental Department, during the meeting the parties discussed a number of issues and programs of bilateral cooperation in the field of the environment.
The Minister attached importance to close cooperation with the EU member states on the issue of environmental management. At the same time, Romanos Petrosyan told the Ambassador about the serious environmental consequences that arose as a result of the war in Artsakh, which led to certain changes in priorities in the field.
In particular, the Minister presented the 3 main environmental problems of Armenia that need to be resolved as soon as possible. In this context, he named the restoration of the ecosystem of Lake Sevan, the systemic management of forests and specially protected natural areas, the construction of a correct model of balanced relations between business and the environment in specially protected natural areas.
Mrs Andrea Wiktorin expressed her confidence that Armenia, facing simultaneously the challenges of war and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, will soon be able to take the path of recovery to implement the planned programs.
