ArmInfo. Crater lake Karmir Qatar, located in the Kotayk region of the Republic of Armenia, will be protected by the state.
According to the Ministry of the Environment, a number of Facebook users reported that a certain citizen is using the water of the lake through a pump for his own needs. Meanwhile, the Ministry in the case of Karmir Qatar did not issue a permit for water use. Taking into account the fact that the lake is part of a natural ecosystem, Minister Romanos Petrosyan instructed to send a letter to the inspection body for the protection of nature and subsoil in order to find out under what conditions water is taken from the lake, as well as to get acquainted with the problem on the spot and restore the normal state of the lake in the procedure established by law. Representatives of both local self-government bodies and the inspection body went to the territory adjacent to the crater lake. Additional information will be provided upon completion of monitoring.
Crater Lake Karmir Qatar is located at an altitude of 3530 m above sea level, near the extinct volcano Azhdahak (the highest point of the Geghama ridge).
