ArmInfo. The head of the RA Ministry of Health Arsen Torosyan on the example of the situation with the coronavirus COVID-19 pointed to the danger of anti-vaccination movements.
The Minister noted on his Facebook page that the situation with COVID-19 clearly demonstrates what the world looks like when there is no vaccine against an infectious disease that could cause death. <There was a similar situation in the world when there was no measles vaccine and millions of children died from measles; when there was no vaccine for smallpox and millions of people died from this disease; when there was no polio vaccine, and because of this, hundreds of thousands of children and adults died or became disabled. The situation in the world will be the same if there are no these and many other vaccines, and we all will not get vaccinated>, Torosyan emphasized, directing his appeal to the supporters of anti-vaccination movements.
We add that anti-vaccination movements began to gain popularity around the world, which forced the US and several European countries to take tough measures, especially in connection with measles outbreaks in 2019. In particular, in some countries, a child is prohibited from attending kindergarten and school if there is no evidence of measles vaccination. In addition, in European countries there have been cases where children sued their parents, who forbade them to get vaccinated.
