ArmInfo. None of the countries of the Council of Europe and any of the countries of the European Union have adopted legal acts like the bills on the legal regime of emergency and on electronic communications. This was announced during parliamentary briefings by head of the Bright Armenia faction Edmon Marukyan.
He noted that the very essence of bills is anti-democratic. <We are constantly given the example of South Korea, but this is not a comparable example.
You can stop the situation with the spread of coronavirus without violating human rights>, the MP said.
Marukyan emphasized that such a tactic would work if the number of infected people would be 1-2 people, but now, in Armenia, the number of infected exceeds 400 people. "Coronavirus has penetrated almost all regions of the country, and this bill will not succeed," he concluded.
To note, the government bill, in fact, limits the right to protection of personal data and privacy. According to the document, mobile operators are obliged to provide the government with data on telephone conversations of subscribers, in particular, the location of the subscriber, the beginning and end of the conversation, but not the content of the conversation. This is necessary in order to control people's contacts in order to localize and prevent the uncontrolled spread of coronavirus infection.
