ArmInfo.No cases of coronavirus have been detected in the penitentiary institutions of Armenia. Head of Department for Drafting Anti-Corruption and Penitentiary Policies of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Sargsyan stated at a March 25 press conference. Sargsyan informed that all measures are being taken to ensure the safety of citizens in places of detention.
In particular, in order to prevent the possibility of penetration of the coronavirus into the territory of the penitentiary institution, a ban was imposed on visiting prisoners by their relatives and friends. Meanwhile, the possibility of communication is provided through video calls. In addition, a ban has been introduced on the acceptance of parcels for prisoners.
According to Sargsyan, the temperature of people who enter and leave the penitentiary institution, including employees of penitentiary institutions, is measured. As noted, tests for coronavirus among prisoners were conducted, but they all have a negative result. In case of coronavirus, as Sargsyan informed, isolation and measures to limit communication will been taken in places of detention.
Sagrgsyan noted that the situation in the penitentiary institutions is under control, and all necessary measures are being taken, including disinfection of premises and territories, to prevent the entry of coronavirus.
