ArmInfo. The Red Cross Society of Armenia, being the largest public organization supporting the government in the humanitarian field, intends to organize a series of events in the context of the state of emergency in connection with the coronavirus epidemic.
According to the Society, it is planned to organize close cooperation of the centers of social and psychological support of the Organization with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. Considering that lonely elderly people and people with disabilities are most vulnerable to infection, the Armenian Red Cross Society has mobilized its full potential for volunteers to support this category of people and people with disabilities, including shopping, to limit the scope of their contacts. Armenian Red Cross volunteers will contact isolated citizens in Tsaghkadzor and Dilijan online to find out their needs. The company will also give the RA Ministry of Health a list of translators so that foreign applicants to the Ministry's hotline can be sent to the Armenian Red Cross Society and have access to information in their language. Volunteers will distribute leaflets to the public in public places throughout the country (transit stops, grocery stores and pharmacies, underpasses). Volunteers of the Society will distribute information materials and videos on online platforms.
Earlier today, ArmInfo reported that another 8 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Armenia. The Minister of Health of Armenia stated this on his Facebook page. Some of the new cases, according to him, belong to the number of already isolated citizens, and with regard to the remaining half, a circle of contacts is being clarified. The Minister noted that one of the recent cases concerns Etchmiadzin, and the remaining 7 are related to the production facility in the Shengavit metropolitan administrative district. Thus, a total of 72 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Armenia, of which 1 person has already recovered.
