ArmInfo. Former Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Vahagn Harutyunyan, detained in Moscow on March 15, was released. The Prosecutor General's Office confirms this information.
To recall, Vahagn Harutyunyan, as early as 2018, was prosecuted as a defendant in the case of <March 1> for falsifying evidence. The former head of the bloody March 2008 investigation team was initially charged with falsifying important evidence in the March 1 case in order to hide the fact that the armed forces participated in the March 1 events. Subsequently, the Special Investigation Service (SIS) stated that it supplemented the charge and Harutyunyan was also accused of abuse of power, which led to negligence in grave consequences, and abuse of power associated with violence. Meanwhile, the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan four times rejected the application for the arrest of Vahagn Harutyunyan. It should be noted that even before the involvement of the accused in the case, Harutyunyan left for Moscow in the summer of 2018.
