ArmInfo. After the declaration of an emergency situation in Armenia yesterday, the first violations were revealed. According to RA Deputy Minister of Justice Vahe Danielyan at a March 17 press conference, several complaints have already been received about individual media publications. According to him, there is a certain misunderstanding of which information can be published, and which cannot. Meanwhile, a meeting has already been organized with representatives of the editorial staff of a number of media at which these issues were discussed in more detail.
Danielyan informed that, based on the requirements of the state of emergency, only official information can be published, and this is especially important given that even unimportant, at first glance, data can cause panic among the population. The deputy minister also noted that under the emergency regime, the provision and dissemination of information regarding patients with coronavirus and persons in contact with them is prohibited. According to him, the published information is monitored, and the identified violations are provided to the Police, and then to the relevant authorities.
The state of emergency also provides for enhanced preventive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. According to Danielyan, a specific package has been developed to bring to administrative and criminal liability for violation of the quarantine and isolation regime. Administrative responsibility is also provided for violation of the decree banning the organization and holding of events in which more than 20 people take part. As for the activities of restaurants, there are currently no restrictions. Exceptions may be in individual cases, according to the specific decision of the commandant's office.
Danielyan also touched upon the issue of protection against the penetration of coronavirus into penitentiary institutions, noting that all necessary measures were being taken and, as far as he knew, not a single prisoner needed to pass the COVID-19 test. To recall, the state of emergency was introduced in Armenia on March 16, and will last until 5:00 pm on April 14. At present, 64 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Armenia; one person recovered.
