On March 13, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting was held in the Government, during which the course of measures aimed at preventing the spread of Coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia was discussed. During the meeting, RA Minister of Healthcare Arsen Torosyan informed that according to the latest data, 6 cases of Coronavirus have been identified in Armenia, and 5 patients feel well and do not have serious symptoms.
One patient was diagnosed with pneumonia, but no deterioration in health was recorded. The Minister noted that since yesterday, appropriate steps have been taken to clarify and isolate the circle of those who had contact with Coronavirus infected people.
Torosyan also pointed out that the state has no shortage of medicines and medical supplies, there is also a necessary reserve of protective masks that are provided to medical institutions. At the same time, it was noted that steps were being taken to import a new batch of masks. The Minister emphasized that there is no need to wear a mask on the street, since this protective measure is applicable only in direct contact with the patient.
He also said that today the citizens isolated on March 1 will be examined, and it is likely that the results will be negative, that is, they will not be diagnosed with Coronavirus. During the meeting, work on the fight against Coronavirus and further steps were discussed. <We ask, if possible, to avoid participation and organization of mass events, especially those of our compatriots who have any disturbing symptoms.
The Coronavirus Prevention Commission operates on a daily basis, and today will also be its meeting. We monitor developments every hour. For us, the greatest challenge is not only making decisions, but also making these decisions as effective as possible>, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He also urged citizens to follow official information and not to trust unverified and false rumors circulated in social networks. At the meeting, it was decided before March 23 to stop classes in preschool and educational institutions. <On March 18-19, we will once again discuss the problem, and if necessary, we will extend the deadline>, said Pashinyan.
