ArmInfo.A group of lawyers of former Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan issued a statement, which again voiced the need for him to conduct a surgery.
In a statement, in particular, it is noted: <On July 4 and August 5, 2019, on the demand of the body conducting the criminal proceedings, the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia convened two councils with the participation of leading specialists of the country. Based on their results, it was ascertained that Khachatryan needs a second surgery to treat stenosis, which cannot be carried out in Armenia, since initially during the surgery in Germany in 2018 he had an implant installed>.
The defense insists that delaying the surgery can cause irreversible harm to the health of Gagik Khachatryan. <Despite this, he still has not been given the opportunity to undergo surgical treatment. Because of all this, Khachatryan's health condition has worsened, and he is currently in the Astghik Medical Center, where he is undergoing conservative and rehabilitation treatment, which, however, according to doctors, is not the main treatment for the disease, "the lawyers noted.
Gagik Khachatryan is accused of embezzlement on an especially large scale and abuse of power. Gagik Khachatryan and his relative Karen Khachatryan (former SRC employee) were detained on August 27. He was charged under Part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Misappropriation or embezzlement of funds on an especially large scale) and part 2 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Abuse of official authority entailing reckless consequences).
