ArmInfo. The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia revealed another case of bribery for organization of a deferment from military service.
According to the press service of the National Security Service, the surgeon of the Scientific Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics, CJSC, in December 2019, instructed through familiar officials to obtain a 3-year deferment from the army, for which he indirectly demanded and received a bribe of $ 10 thousand from the conscript's mother. The amount was transferred to the responsible official, who decided the issue with a delay.
A surgeon helping to get a bribe was detained. The person, who passed a bribe, as well as the intermediary, admitted their deed. On the fact of a patent crime under the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code a criminal case was opened in the investigation department of the NSS of the Republic of Armenia. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, appropriate measures are being taken to identify and prosecute persons involved in the corruption chain.
