ArmInfo.Accusations of Serzh Sargsyan of his intention to surrender the territories of Artsakh are part of the internal political tactics of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo Chairman of the International Center for Human Development Tevan Poghosyan.
At his last press conference in Kapan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Serzh Sargsyan of negotiating the surrender of seven Artsakh districts to Azerbaijan in exchange for the status of Artsakh during its legislature.
"The domestic political struggle in Armenia, unfortunately, also allows the use of such an argument. And, in general, it's possible to understand the reasons for its occurrence. Without being a part of this struggle, I can say that it's quite possible to reach a solution to the Artsakh conflict. If we we will jointly defend our own interests and position in this matter, "he said.
In this light, Poghosyan noted that throughout the negotiation process, beginning in 1992, various settlement formulas lay on the table, however, to this day, not a single option that contradicted the interests of Armenia and Artsakh has been implemented. "In this light, I want to remind you that the same Kazan document that our prime minister refers to was rejected by Azerbaijan, not Armenia. Ilham Aliyev, not Serzh Sargsyan. This raises the logical question - why, if everything was for Baku is it so smooth? None of the presidents of Armenia wanted to hand over the Artsakh territories, not one of them handed over these territories. I am convinced that neither Nikol Pashinyan nor those who will replace him will do this, "the analyst summed up. Since 1992, the OSCE Minsk Group, represented by the co-chairs from Russia, the USA and France, has been engaged in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Currently, the settlement process is nominally proceeding on the basis of the "Madrid principles" put forward by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in 2007 in Madrid and updated in 2009, which, among other things, envisage the deployment of a peacekeeping contingent in the conflict zone.
