ArmInfo. The visa regime with Serbia for Armenian citizens will be canceled. The decision on this was made at a meeting of the RA Government on January 30.
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Avet Adonts, on October 25, 2019, the Serbian government unilaterally abolished the visa regime for citizens of Armenia, who may be in the territory of this Balkan state for no more than 90 days within 180 days. This decision, as the deputy minister noted, entered into force on November 2, 2019. Based on the principle of reciprocity, the government of the country also took the path of abolishing the visa regime for Serbian citizens who would be able to freely stay in Armenia for no more than 180 days during the year. The decision of the RA Government will enter into force on the 10th day after its adoption. Thus, as Adonts noted, another opportunity will be created for the citizens of Armenia to ensure their right to free movement.
The deputy minister also said that currently a visa-free regime operates with 63 countries of the world. Among the priorities of the RA MFA is the liberalization of the visa regime with the countries of the European Union. According to him, negotiations in this direction are dynamic and purposeful. At the same time, the deputy minister declined to inform when the relevant agreement with the EU will be concluded. In turn, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, pointing out the importance of the decision adopted today, stressed the need for consistent work on establishing direct flights between the cities of Armenia and Serbia.
