ArmInfo. On January 23, head of the parliamentary commission on human rights, MP from the Prosperous Armenia faction, Naira Zohrabyan received David Moran, Charge d'Affaires of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Armenia.
According to the press service of the parliament, Zohrabyan presented the agenda of the profile commission, noting that as a parliamentarian, she was very impressed with the activities of the British Parliament's commission on human rights and women's issues, as well as working groups. According to the chairman of the commission, it would be productive to create in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, as in the British Parliament, female MPs of a group representing all political forces regardless of their political orientation, called upon to discuss the numerous problems of human rights, women and children, which would be a positive signal society about the ability of women MPs to unite to solve key tasks.
She emphasized the assistance of the British Embassy to their commission in the exercise of parliamentary oversight functions, in particular on the human rights strategy, in the framework of the program entitled "Supporting the National Assembly in Improving Parliamentary Oversight and Communication with Voters", supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the United Kingdom. Charge d'Affaires of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland David Moran expressed readiness for close and business cooperation with the commission, noting that the announced initiative of Zohrabyan will be discussed.
