ArmInfo. The team of lawyers of third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan made a statement regarding his involvement as an accused in the case of organizing thefts in  2013 as part of the state program for the purchase of diesel fuel.

In a statement posted by lawyer Amram Makinyan on his Facebook page,  in particular, it is noted that, according to the Constitution of the  Republic of Armenia, the president of the republic cannot be  prosecuted and held accountable for actions arising from his status  during his term of office and after its completion. , the statement emphasizes.

Touching upon the legality and validity of the preventive measure  chosen in relation to Sargsyan, the defense party unconditionally  states that there is no factual evidence that could even  theoretically indicate the inappropriate behavior of Sargsyan.  Therefore, in the opinion of the lawyers, in these conditions the  restriction of his right to free movement guaranteed by the RA  Constitution cannot be considered legal.

It is also indicated that the decision to seize Sargsyan's property  also cannot be considered legitimate due to the lack of relevant  evidence in the case.

Third president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, is accused of organizing  embezzlement on an especially large scale - about 500 million drams.  We are talking about the state program approved in 2013 by the  Government on the more affordable acquisition of diesel fuel for the  implementation of spring agricultural work. According to the  investigation, exceeding official powers, Sargsyan facilitated the  purchase of diesel fuel from Flash Ltd at higher prices.  Serzh  Sargsyan was charged with clause 1 of part 3 of article 38-179  of  the RA Criminal Code, former Minister of Agriculture Sergo   Karapetyan - under clause 1 of part 3 of article 179 of the RA   Criminal Code, head of Flash Ltd Barsegh Beglaryan - under clause 1   of part 3 of article 38-179 of the Criminal Code RA, former Deputy   Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Samvel Galstyan   and Head of the Plant Production Department of the same Ministry   Gevorg Harutyunyan - under clause 1 of part 3 of Article 38- 179 of   the RA Criminal Code .  The criminal case with the indictment was  transferred to the prosecutor in charge of supervision, with a motion  to send it to court.
