ArmInfo. Armenia calls on Albania, as the OSCE Chairmanship, in cooperation with the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, to establish direct contacts with the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and their elected representatives. The representative of Armenia to the OSCE, Ambassador Armen Papikyan stated this at a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
According to him, quoted by the RA MFA press office, the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh concerns the physical survival of the people of Karabakh and their right to self-determination. The diplomat also drew attention to the statement of the heads of delegation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries of December 5, which confirms that a fair and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be based on three principles approved by the OSCE participating States. "The unconditional commitment of the presidency of Albania to these principles, including the principle of the right to self-determination, is crucial for the consistent participation of the OSCE in this process," said Armen Papikyan. He confirmed the readiness of Armenia to continue its constructive participation in the negotiation process, using the modest but positive experience of building confidence-building measures between all parties to the conflict.
