ArmInfo.On December 7-10, the RA NA delegation led by Gayane Abrahamyan participated in the plenary session of the Euronest PA of the Eastern Partnership in Tbilisi. This was reported by the press service of the parliament.
The delegation included NA Deputy Speaker Vahe Enfiajyan, Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Health and Social Affairs Eriknaz Tigranyan, MPs Sargis Khandanyan, Koryun Mkrtchyan, Narek Mkrtchyan, Mikael Zolyan, Taron Simonyan.
On December 8, meetings of PA Euronest commissions on politics and human rights, energy security, social and educational, as well as economic issues were held. The Armenian delegation managed to prevent a regular anti-Armenian initiative of Azerbaijanis in the energy commission - to close the Metsamor NPP. G. Abrahamyan, in connection with the demand of the Azerbaijani delegation, emphasized, in particular, that within the framework of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and the EU in the field of energy, specific provisions on nuclear safety were provided. Important success was also achieved at a meeting of the Commission on Politics, Human Rights and Democracy. All 8 proposals submitted by the Armenian delegation for the report were accepted. According to the report discussed at the Economic Commission, all the proposals of the NA delegation were accepted. The social commission also adopted a proposal extremely important for Armenia. The proposal of the NA delegation related to the problem of the spread of xenophobia in the education system, which is largely related to the policy of Armenophobia conducted by Azerbaijan at the state level.
One of the achievement of the plenary session of the Euronest PA is also the adoption in the emergency mode of a resolution of the three changes proposed by the Armenian delegation, consolidating the course of democratic reforms after the revolution in Armenia and proposing the inclusion of Armenia in the EU's strategic project "Trio" (Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova) - with changing the format of the <Trio> in <Trio + 1>. On December 9, at the opening ceremony of the plenary session of the Euronest PA, the head of the Armenian delegation Abrahamyan introduced Armenia-EU relations, reforms and obligations of the Republic of Armenia, the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and security. Taking advantage of the occasion that December 9 is the UN International Day of Remembrance and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocides, Abrahamyan also spoke in her speech about the importance of recognizing and condemning genocides, including the Armenian Genocide.
On December 10, the ten-year activity and strategy of the Eastern Partnership for the coming years were presented for discussion. During the plenary session, the head of the NA delegation, referring to the Armenia-EU relations and the prospects for developing the Eastern Partnership format, confirmed Armenia's obligations to strengthen relations with Europe and emphasized that the protection of democratic values and fundamental rights should be one of the main priorities as a guarantee of progress of any state. In this context, massive violations of human rights, Armenian-phobia at the state level, and the destructive policy of Azerbaijan as a state that contradicts the European democratic and legal value system and does not have a place in this family, were touched upon.
Members of the delegation Simonyan, Kandanian and Zolyan also addressed the plenary session on pressing issues.
A decision was made to hold Euronest PA meetings in Armenia next spring.
