ArmInfo. As part of the pilot program, work began on the replacement of elevator equipment in Yerevan.
As the press service of the Yerevan Municipality reports, it is planned to replace 20 elevators in 10 administrative districts of Yerevan. The cost of a pilot project to replace 20 elevators is estimated at 19 million drams. Funding comes from community funds. According to Vice Mayor Hayk Sargsyan, tenders have already taken place, contracts have been concluded, and the delivery of elevators has begun. 12 elevators have already been delivered, another 8 on the way.
The Vice Mayor noted that almost 70% of the elevators operating in Yerevan have been in operation for more than 40 years, while they should have been replaced 25 years ago.
The mayor's office said that the social significance of the problem and guaranteeing the safety of citizens involves the replacement of 3,500 elevators.
<A complete replacement of the fund will be made at the expense of borrowed funds, and they must be repaid within years. The cost of services will increase slightly compared to what residents will receive. Speech can be a maximum of 30 - 40%. In order to preserve the so-called <identity> of the model, we will apply a mechanism for charging the same payments. These payments will be levied, but the community will provide them to the condominium serving the building>, the vice mayor of Yerevan emphasized.
According to Hayk Sargsyan, the technical characteristics of the elevator replacement program were determined as a mandatory requirement. <We strictly included their inclusion in the necessary technical characteristics: touch buttons for the blind, sound system, security call system, as well as ensuring the appropriate height of the buttons so that people in a wheelchair and corresponding doorways can use it>. Installation of 20 elevators will be completed by the end of the year. Until the project is fully launched, the Municipality of Yerevan plans to replace another 100 emergency elevators in 2020. Funds will be provided in the budget for next year. The report notes that the buildings were selected taking into account the wear of elevator parts, the frequency of failures, the condition of the mines, the degree of wear of the cabs and a number of other standards approved by the Ministry of Emergencies. It should be noted that for the modernization of the entire elevator fund of the Armenian capital and other cities, the Municipality received an offer from the Belarusian and Russian parties to organize assembly production, which would significantly reduce costs and increase the efficiency of the program. However, so far the city authorities have not responded to investor proposals.
