ArmInfo. The world is unfair to Armenia in assessing its importance, Famous Israeli political scientist, public figure Avigdor Eskin stated in a video interview with HAYASA.
According to him, recent events in the Middle East have clearly shown the aggressive essence of Turkish politics. The cruelty with which the Turks cracked down on the Kurds and other residents of the border regions of Syria, the unbridled policies of Erdogan once again reminded the world that not only Islamism, but pan-Turkism in Turkish politics poses a real threat to the entire region. And if we take another factor such as a terrorist organization, from the point of view of Russian law, as the "Muslim Brotherhood", which is actually in power in Istanbul, headed by Erdogan, then all this makes us think about the role of Armenia, "the political scientist emphasized.
According to Eskin, it is Armenia, or rather Armenia, Georgia and Karabakh, together - this is the very layer that protects the whole world from the combined efforts of those forces in Azerbaijan that are also striving for the same pan-Turkist revanchist tendencies with the chief controller in Istanbul, in Ankara. "This must be taken into account, the growing role of Armenia, its strategic importance must be understood, and in this sense, Israel also needs to talk about how important Armenia is today as a deterrent, even simply by its existence," the political scientist noted.
In an interview with ArmInfo correspondent, Avigdor Eskin, answering the question of how far this aggressive foreign policy of Ankara can go, noted that today there is an increase in Islamic imperial ambitions in Turkey, because the "Muslim Brotherhoods" are in power in Ankara. At the same time, revanchist moods are growing with nostalgia for the Ottoman Empire, as well as pan-Turkic moods. These trends are manifested, as he already noted, in aggressive foreign policy in Syria, as well as in Cyprus, and in relation to their own Kurdish population.
<We also observe a clear irredentist tendency in Turkish behavior towards the Gaza Strip and in the territory of Israel itself, where Turkish diplomats allow themselves to act contrary to international etiquette. If these aggressive tendencies in Turkish politics are not stopped, we will face the threat of widespread aggression in the region with consequences for the whole world>, the expert concluded.
