ArmInfo.Yerevan reacted to the statement of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Miroslav Laicak about the organizing of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Bratislava.
Thus, the official representative of the RA MFA Anna Naghdalyan, referring to this statement, recalled that the meetings between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan are organized only through the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and senior representatives of the co-chairing countries.
"Indeed, the co-chairmen voiced a proposal to hold a meeting, as was indicated in our statement from the New York meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers, as well as in the statement of the mediators following the visit to the region. As you know, such meetings we announce in an agreed format, and we will not violate this principle, "Naghdalyan emphasized.
It should be noted that on yesterday, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak informed to Voice of America radio station that a meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers is planned through the mediation of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office in Bratislava, during which the parties will discuss prospects for a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Lajcak noted that he highly appreciates the efforts of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the direction of reaching a settlement. "This year, positive impulses were recorded, a dialogue between leaders and at the ministerial level. At the same time, disturbing episodes on the ContactLline were recorded that caused human losses," emphasized Lajcak, adding that the situation now seems to be stable.
