ArmInfo.On October 22, the Criminal Court of Appeal, having examined the appeal of the Prosecutor's Office, discharged a court order of first instance on the release of former Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Armenia Gurgen Sargsyan on bail. The accused in the construction of the North-South Road Corridor project, Sargsyan was detained.
Gurgen Sargsyan held the post of Minister of Transport and Communications from 2008 to 2010. Then he changed his field of activity, becoming the managing Stones LLC - one of the subcontractors in the construction work of the North-South Road Corridor project.
To recall, in the framework of the preliminary investigation in the criminal case instituted over the abuses committed during the implementation of the North-South road corridor construction program, the executive director of the Multi Group Concern was detained on charges of financial fraud. The total amount of written-off funds of unpaid taxes, together with fines, is 2.733.171.489 drams. The charge was also brought against the two coordinators of work at Stones LLC Suren Avakyan and Gurgen Sargsyan. A total of 15 accused are in the case. Gurgen Sargsyan was charged under part 3 of Article 38-189 of the Criminal Code, paragraph 1 of part 3 of Article 38-190 of the Criminal Code and part 2 of Article 38-205 of the Criminal Code.
