At the request of the Islamic epublic of Iran, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, have begun to deliver humanitarian aid for the needs of the Iranian population affected by the devastating flood. According to the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, humanitarian aid will be handed over by the forces and means of the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response, located in Yerevan (Armenia), to the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The cargo consisted of tents, blankets and folding beds for a total of more than 4,000 items of material resources procured at the expense of the funds of the Russian Federation in the Center's humanitarian reserve.
The Center was established with the support of the Russian Government in 2015 to facilitate the implementation of the emergency humanitarian response tasks in the territories of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia and third countries.
As a result of heavy rainfall and flooding, 31 provinces of Iran suffered more than 750 people, of whom 63 people died. More than 25,000 homes, highways and bridges were damaged, and power supply was disrupted.
