ArmInfo.The official visit of the Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan to Rwanda was launched from a meeting with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the country Donatille Mukabalisa. This was reported to ArmInfo in the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia.
During the meeting, Mnatsakanyan stressed the commitment to develop sectoral cooperation with African countries, in this regard, highlighting the important role of international structures, in particular the OIF. The interlocutor mutually noted the presence of potential for the rapprochement of the two states, geographically far apart. The need to step up parliamentary diplomacy and organize reciprocal visits between Armenia and Rwanda was stressed. Describing the post-revolutionary processes in Armenia, Mnatsakanyan stressed that government reforms initiated on the basis of the broad mandate given by the people are aimed at strengthening democracy in the country, as well as providing equal economic opportunities. Speaking about the steps being taken towards the prevention of genocides and crimes against humanity, the Armenian minister stressed that Armenia, as a responsible member of the international community, will continue to consistently advance the agenda on the prevention of genocides. The interlocutor stressed the importance of combining the efforts of Armenia and Rwanda on this issue at international platforms. Mukabalisa highly appreciated the participation of Mnatsakanyan in events dedicated to the genocide against Tutsis.
