ArmInfo. The program for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke, currently implemented in two medical centers in Armenia, however, the third medical center will soon join them.Minister of Healthcare of Armenia Arsen Torosyan said this at the meeting of the standing parliamentary commission for the protection of human rights and public issues.
The Minister also noted that the program for financing the treatment of acute ischemic stroke can be carried out only in those hospitals that have equipment for thrombolysis, thrombaspiration, thrombectomy and other procedures necessary to save the health and life of patients with ischemic stroke. In particular, today, according to Torosyan, the Erebuni medical center and the Heratsi hospital are equipped with this equipment. "Now all the necessary equipment is also being installed at the Astghik Medical Center," the Minister stressed.
Torosyan said that, despite the fact that there are some hardware capabilities in other hospitals, they are not enough. At the same time, the Minister said that when other hospitals in the country will also have the appropriate equipment to provide comprehensive care for people with stroke, they will also be included in the state program.
The Minister of Healthcare said that within the framework of the program, within a month and a half, about 35 people with stroke had been treated as part of the state order, and 20 of them are now healthy and have returned to normal life.
To note, the state program for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke started in Armenia on February 1. According to the preliminary decision, it is planned to spend about 200-400 million drams per year on it. However, the Minister stressed that if the program proves its effectiveness by saving people's lives and preventing their disability, additional funds will be allocated to it.
