ArmInfo. The program of the Armenian government clearly demonstrates the country's policy towards NATO. This was stated on March 11 at the press conference in Yerevan, on the occasion of NATO week, by the German Ambassador to Armenia Matthias Kiesler.
He recalled about the participation of the Armenian contingent in NATO peacekeeping missions. At the same time, the diplomat expressed regret about the insufficient level of awareness of Armenian society about Armenia-NATO relations. "Unfortunately, only inner circles of society tare informed about the activities of the North Atlantic Alliance in Armenia, and we hope that the events held during the week of NATO will increase awareness and involvement in various activities", the diplomat noted.
In turn, Deputy Head of the NATO Liaison Office in the South Caucasus Rosaria Puglisi stated that holding a week of NATO in Armenia has become a good tradition. "The holding of events during the week of NATO is aimed at raising awareness of our substantive cooperation agenda. Within the week of NATO, a number of events are planned, including those dedicated to strengthening discipline in the Armed Forces and fighting corruption, although after the velvet revolution in Armenia and large-scale changes, we can hardly do more, "she said.
At the same time, Puglisi added that a quite representative NATO delegation arrived from Brussels in Yerevan, and Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General in the South Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai will hold meetings with the country's top leadership today.
