"The driver of the car did not react at all to the warning signals of the electric train. Subsequently, the driver of the car explained that he was trying to cross the way in the wrong place. The speed of the electric train during emergency braking was 83 km / h (with a valid 90 km / h in this section), braking distance amounted to 393 meters. Despite the emergency braking, collisions could not be avoided. As a result of the incident, the SCR company suffered material damage, the volume of which is being specified, "the company said.
In connection with the incident, the South Caucasian Railway once again reminds that the railway is a source of increased danger and calls for strict compliance with safety rules. "The train in the case of potential danger to the careless pedestrian or driver can not stop immediately. With emergency braking, the stopping distance of the passenger electric train is at least 800 meters and the freight train at least 1 km," the SCR recalled.
