ArmInfo. The negotiation process on the Karabakh settlement continues, despite the fact that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is trying to hide this fact. The second President of Armenia Robert Kocharian stated this in an interview with the n"168 Zham" ewspaper.
Kocharyan noted that it's not the fact of the talks that causes doubts, but the persistence of the Prime Minister trying to hide their presence. "The position of the government of Armenia on the Karabakh issue is not known to the public, as it has not been made public today, and that's what causes concern. How can we conduct successful negotiations without a worded position? In the negotiation process on the Karabakh settlement there are a number of fundamental provisions regarding which the government should have clear approaches, and only then start them, "Kocharyan said, assuring that Aliyev" easily achieved an advantage "in negotiations with Pashinyan.
According to him, the "lift negotiations" in Dushanbe (agreements on preserving the truce regime reached between Pashinyan and Aliyev during the short meeting at the Dushanbe summit, Ed. note), In fact, buried the Vienna and St. Petersburg documents, which were beneficial to the Armenian side, and which strengthened the ceasefire regime on the Line of Contact. "And this is exactly the price that Azerbaijan paid for the fact that in April it launched a four-day war," the second president stressed, adding that this is a big mistake.
According to him, the Armenian side, by its readiness to make concessions, has generated excessive expectations, both in Azerbaijan and among the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. "And that is why, it seems to me that the subsequent proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will not be a pleasant one," Kocharyan stressed.
"In any case, I will in every way impede any attempts to surrender Karabakh, regardless of where I stay," said Kocharyan, stressing that Pashinyan and most of his associates have nothing to do with the independence and military achievements of Artsakh; therefore they hate all those who fought for these achievements. It is for this reason, Kocharyan assured, that the public should control every step of the new authorities in the Karabakh issue. "In no case can one believe the contradictory statements of Pashinyan," concluded the first President of Artsakh and the second President of Armenia.
To note, second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, is under arrest. He is accused of overthrowing the Constitutional system on March 1, 2008.
