ArmInfo. If it suddenly turns out that the National Security Service (NSS) is actually putting pressure on the members of the board of trustees of YSU, I will resign. Such a statement was made today by Armenian Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan in a conversation with journalists, responding to the remark that NSS officers allegedly put pressure on members of the university's board of trustees to vote against YSU Rector Aram Simonyan.
He also considered the statements of supporters of Simonyan that he was being politically persecuted, as he was a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), groundless. The minister also said that representatives of the Civil Contract party do not have their candidacy for the post of rector. "Until today, we had only working relations with Aram Simonyan. But he is trying to give political color to this whole story. Many RPA members work in our ministry, and at very high positions. And no one is following them, not dismissing them, and not puts pressure on them ", the minister assured, urging the YSU staff not to succumb to provocations.
Harutyunyan assured that after his appointment as minister, he treated all rectors equally and fairly.
As for the protest actions aimed at supporting the Rector of YSU, as the Minister noted, people have the right to express their point of view. "All people, within the framework of the law, have the full right to express their point of view. We respect this their right," said Harutyunyan.
As for the checks that the State Control Service employees carried out at EHU, having discovered major thefts, the Minister of Education and Science assured that he was not personally acquainted with the official results of these checks.
