ArmInfo. Newly appointed Ambassador of Armenia to the Czech Republic Ashot Hovakimyan presented his credentials to Czech President Milos Zeman.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that during the meeting Zeman praised the current level of Armenian-Czech bilateral relations, stating with satisfaction that after his visit to Yerevan in 2016, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 300%.
The Czech President was interested in the latest processes in Armenia, as well as democratic reforms. The meeting discussed possible high-level visits, as well as issues on the international agenda. Hovakimyan thanked the Czech President for his friendly attitude towards Armenia and the Armenian people, highlighting Zeman's position on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. The meeting also presented the contents of the internal political processes that took place in Armenia, the results of the parliamentary elections, the priorities of the foreign and domestic policy of the Republic of Armenia. To note, according to the RA National Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the Czech Republic in January-December 2018 amounted to $ 42.9 million, with a y-o-y growth of 46.3%. At the same time, imports exceeded $ 40 million with an increase of 49.6%, and exports - $ 2.9 million with a y-o-y growth of 12.1%.
