ArmInfo. The approval by the Government of Armenia of the program of activities for the upcoming five-year period has been postponed. The Cabinet of Ministers was not able today, on February 6, to decide on a number of provisions to be resolved.
Presenting the draft document, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stressed that according to the current legislation, after the formation of the cabinet of ministers, a program of the executive body's activities should be developed, approved and sent to parliament.
As the Deputy Prime Minister continued over the next five years the government's activities will focus on the development of high technologies, industry, and the formation of an economy based on high environmental standards aimed at exporting competitive and innovative products.
To achieve these goals, special attention will be paid to ensuring internal and external security, strengthening security guarantees for Artsakh, protecting human rights, free creativity of a citizen, and creating conditions for a happy life.
The development of democracy and democratic institutions, the rule of law, the existence of an independent judiciary, and the introduction of counterbalance mechanisms will also be important in the activities of the government.
The Cabinet of Ministers also envisages continuing the fight against corruption, increasing the accountability of the government, separating business from politics, ensuring the general availability of economic activity, improving the business environment, and promoting work and investment. However, as RA Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan noted, the document poorly presents issues related to the unloading of the judicial system, which require elaboration and problems relating to culture.
In turn, RA Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan stressed that the presented document says practically nothing about the problems of public debt management and the budget system.
Following an active discussion, it was decided to postpone the discussion on Thursday evening or Friday morning. Moreover, the deadline for submitting the government program to the country's parliament is set for February 8.
