ArmInfo. Minister of Science and Education of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan received the Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.
According to the press service of the ministry, during the meeting the sides discussed the prospects for deepening Armenian-Russian relations in the field of education and science. Minister Harutyunyan noted the importance of constructive cooperation in the field of education in the framework of the intergovernmental commission between the two countries, expressing the hope that the upcoming meeting of the commission in Moscow will give impetus to the strengthening and development of cooperation in education. In turn, Sergey Kopyrkin noted with satisfaction the current level of Armenian-Russian cooperation and expressed readiness to continue efficient cooperation in the fields of education and science.
The parties discussed issues related to the education of children in Russian classes in Armenia. The parties also raised issues related to the competition held by the Ministry of Education and Science in conjunction with the Russian Center for Science and Culture for the 2019-20 academic year for higher and postgraduate education in higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation. The Russian side expressed its readiness to allocate certain places in Russian universities for the retraining of teachers of Russian language and literature from Armenia.
During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of joint programs in the field of secondary vocational and higher education were also discussed.
