ArmInfo. The Russian Federation is consistently increasing its efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development, including in Armenia. Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin stated this on January 30 in Yerevan at the seminar "On the activities of the Russian Federation in the field of promoting international development".
According to him, among the priority areas for achieving the goals of sustainable development are the CIS countries, the EAEU, and of course, Armenia, relations with which are in the first place.
Assistance to the republic is provided both on a bilateral basis and in a multilateral format. On a bilateral basis, Armenia provides grants and affordable loans; in a multilateral format cooperation is developing within the framework of the UN. In particular, this concerns projects with the United Nations in the areas of education, emergency situations, countering infectious and non-communicable diseases, and promoting sustainable socio-economic development.
Within the framework of the UNDP program in Armenia, the Russian Federation financed programs for $ 5 million, in rural tourism - $ 3 million, HIV prevention - $ 16 million, $ 20 million was allocated to the school-feeding program. From 2016, the budget of the UN Children's Fund ( UNICEF) Russia provided assistance in the amount of $ 600 thousand for the implementation of the project "Development of Neonatal Services in Armenia".
"The consistent activity of Russia in this direction will be another step towards the development of strategic relations with the Republic of Armenia," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed.
