ArmInfo. The link between the fate of Alexander Griboyedov and Armenia and the Armenian people is immense. Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin stated this, during the opening ceremony of the bust of Griboyedov in the  garden of the Russian- Armenian University on January 30. Sculpture  received as a gift from the Foundation <Strategy>.

Karasin stressed that this day was not chosen by chance, because it  was on this day that Griboyedov was killed. "For the first time,  Griboyedov visited Armenia in 1819, exactly 200 years ago and was  deeply impressed by the culture of the country, as well as the  hospitality of the Armenian people. During the Russian-Persian war,  Griboyedov took part in all the battles in Armenia, including he took  part in the liberation Erivani. Concern about the position of the  Armenians occupied a special place in the diplomatic mission of  Griboedov. It was at his insistence that a paragraph was introduced  in the text of the Turkmenchay treaty that allowed Armenians to leave  Persia and return to their historic homeland. The return of Armenians  was one of the factors contributing to the ethnic survival of the  people. Another thread that linked Griboyedov with Armenia was that  it was in Yerevan in 1827 that his immortal comedy Grief from the  mind was set up for the first time in Griboyedov's life. Griboyedov's  image can serve as a benchmark for all diplomats, he is a true hero  of his time ", Karasin concluded

In turn, RAU rector Armen Darbinyan said that Griboedov's  contribution is huge, because he devoted his life to diplomacy,  including that he was also engaged in the issue of saving Armenians.  "During the Russian-Persian war and during the negotiations, and then  when the fate of Eastern Armenia was decided, Griboyedov played a  significant role," said RAU rector Armen Darbinyan.

In turn, the author of the monument, Grigory Pototsky, noted that  this is his third sculpture in the territory of Armenia; the first  one was installed in Karabakh. "Griboyedov is the embodiment of the  Russian man and the Russian soul. And the establishment of his  sculpture in the RAU symbolizes Armenian-Russian fraternal relations.  Griboyedov did a lot to save Armenians in Iran, for Russia, and my  Griboyedov thinks that we are all primarily people Why do we  constantly are in a state of war, why fight for we are all the same  people, "Pototsky said. He also stressed that the sculpture is made  of bronze.

To note, the opening of the bust is dedicated to the 190th  anniversary of the death of the great diplomat and poet and  playwright. The bust was received as a gift from the "Strategy"  foundation; the patron of this project was Metso Igityan.  Russian  ambassador to Armenia, as well as the heads of the parliamentary  factions of the My Step bloc Lilit Makunts, the Brught Armenia  faction Edmon Marukyan, and the representative of the Prosperous  Armenia faction Mikael Mlekoumyan attended the opening ceremony.
