ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian took part yesterday in a festive event dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of the  Republic of Armenia.

According to the RA President's administration, by decree of Armen  Sarkissian, for the courage, bravery and dedication shown during the  service, about three dozen servicemen and militiamen were awarded  high state awards of Armenia.Mher Hovsepyan, Aram Chagaryan and  Sergeant Hayk Karamian, were posthumously awarded the Medal "For  Military Service".

During the award ceremony at the presidential residence on the  occasion of the Armenian Army Day, Armenian President Armen  Sarkissian presented the high state awards of Armenia to the  servicemen and delivered a speech. As the President said, the army is  not only a guarantor of security and peace, but also an inseparable  part of the country's economy. <The army is not only a consumer, but  also a structure that creates and leads. For science and industry,  the army is not only a customer, but also a participant in their  progress, "said Armen Sarkissian. According to him, a special  attitude to the army and the soldier is an integral feature of the  character of the Armenians, and this attitude is always reflected in  particular compassion, care and love.

Armen Sarkissian also announced the beginning of the initiative  <Defender of the Motherland>, proposing to provide disabled veterans  with work. The program has been developed by the Institute of the  President of the Republic of Armenia  jointly with the government,  ministries of defense and health care. <The program aims to help  those people who endangered their lives while serving and as a result  became disabled. And the number of patriots, unfortunately, no less.  And, of course, these people have every right not only to be  respected and loved, but also to continue to participate in our  public, political and economic life. Therefore, the Defender of the  Motherland initiative is aimed at helping disabled soldiers and  finding work for them.  In other words, the initiative should become  a link between the persons who served in the army and became  disabled, the army and state structures, the public, charitable  organizations, and business, said the president.

According to Sarkissian, soldiers with disabilities may be  experiencing physical difficulties today.  Meanwhile, the president  believes that each of them is a bright person and can return to life  thanks to the appropriate support, educational program, to become a  full-fledged person, and not only receive a pension, but also  participate in life, feel more confident, and, of course, decide  their problems - from material to personal life. "And the first sign,  the first eagle of those we hired, is Gor Darmanyan - a participant  of the April four-day war, a hero, a disabled person who currently  works in the presidential administration," said Armen Sarkissian. two  or three soldiers with disabilities will also be hired.by the  presidential administration in the near future.
