Meanwhile, as previously reported by the BBC with reference to a  report on Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP),  from 2012 to 2014, the Azerbaijani authorities used a secret black  box office to bribe European politicians, purchase luxury goods and  launder money. In total, about $ 2.8 billion dollars was laundered  through the "black cash". As stated in the investigation, the money  in this scheme allegedly came in through four dummy companies  registered in Britain. Most of the money was transferred to  lobbyists, journalists, politicians from European countries and  businessmen who had to defend the interests of the Azerbaijani  government, the report said. There is no reason to assert that all  people who received money knew about their origin, the report's  authors add. The origin of the money received in the "black cash"  remains unclear until the end, the report says. However, there is  reason to assert that the "cash desk" was connected with the family  of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
