ArmInfo.Adopted children who have reached the age of 18 will have the opportunity to receive information about their biological parents. The Armenian government at its meeting on January 10 approved the procedure for providing this information.
According to Acting Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan, the decision of the executive body is based on respect for the rights to privacy. It also proceeds from the requirements of the Family Code. The document establishes the right of adopted persons who have reached the age of 18 to receive information about their biological parents. The same right will be granted to biological parents who, in accordance with the established procedure, will be able to submit applications to the competent structures at their own discretion. Thus, as noted by Artak Zenaylyan, the rights of both subjects will be balanced.
However, if adoptive parents do not consent to receiving information, then the adopted child will receive a partial right to receive it.
The document establishes the procedure and forms for submitting applications, the procedure for their consideration, the list of authorized structures and the procedure for their interaction according to the "single window" principle.
In turn, Acting Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Manukyan informed that at present there are proposals from 140 families for the adoption of 300 children, of which 47 from citizens of foreign countries.At the same time the advantage in adopting citizens of Armenia. The Acting First Deputy Minister also said that 150 inmates of orphanages in the country are provided with housing, the issue of providing shelter to 221 graduates of orphanages remains open. Arsen Manukyan also pointed out the low quality of education for orphans."They don't even know the names of the great figures of the Armenian people," the Acting First Deputy Minister stressed. In this context, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of education, which should become dominant over the solution of all other problems. He proposed to hold discussions on this issue in order to make an optimal and effective solution to the existing problem. Nikol Pashinyan also urged to remove all obstacles in the adoption of children. "There are families in Armenia that have no children and want to adopt them, but the current order creates many difficulties," the Acting Head of the Armenian government stated.
