ArmInfo.Young pilots of the army aviation of the Russian aviation military base Erebuni of the Southern Military District (South-East Military District), stationed in Armenia, launched flights in high-altitude conditions.
The press service of the Southern Military District told ArmInfo that within a month the specialists of the engineering and technical staff of the formation carried out maintenance work and prepared shock Mi-24P and assault landing Mi-8MTSH helicopters for winter operating conditions.
In the preparatory period, young pilots under the guidance of experienced instructors received additional training on the implementation of flight missions in simple and complex meteorological conditions over the plain and in mountainous terrain. After completing the special course, the young pilots passed the tests, were certified and were allowed to perform independent flights and combat training tasks in the mountainous terrain. On the introductory course, young helicopter pilots work out simple elements of piloting the take-off, hovering, approaching and moving off the ground, vertical descent, landing and landing above a military airfield.
From the beginning of the winter training period and after conducting a flight round of all aviation equipment that has undergone regular seasonal maintenance, the pilots will begin to perform exercises under the combat training program, flights along the indicated routes, and perform various special tasks in the interests of the Russian military base in Transcaucasia.
