ArmInfo. Special investigative Service (SIS) of Armenia does not intend to apply on changing preventive measure in form of arrest to General Manvel Grigoryan. This was stated by the head of the department Sasun Khachatryan on November 1, commenting on the possibility of changing the measure of restraint in relation to Grigoryan due to his health condition.
According to Khachatryan, the legal prerogative to decide to change the preventive measure is given to the prosecutor. The investigative body itself, which previously initiated the arrest of RPA MP Manvel Grigoryan, is not going to come up with a similar initiative. "At this stage, the grounds for arrest have not been eliminated, which is why we consider this initiative to be untimely," he said. On the question of whether Manvel Grigoryan will be questioned in the framework of the March 1 case, Sasun Khachatryan replied: "everyone who is relevant to the case will be questioned".
To recall on June 16, the National Security Service of Armenia detained MP of the Armenian parliament from the RPA, General Manvel Grigoryan. During searches, SNB operatives discovered and seized a large number of weapons and ammunition. In addition, a large arsenal of unregistered weapons, including mortars and rations for soldiers assembled by schoolchildren, was discovered in the mansion and in the dacha of the general. On June 19, the Court of First Instance of Yerevan made a decision on the application of a measure of restraint in the form of arrest for Grigorian for a period of 2 months. On August 17, the court extended Grigoryan's arrest for another two months. On August 22, he was hospitalized due to deterioration in his health. According to Grigoryan's defense, Grigoryan was diagnosed with more than 16 diseases, including diabetes and cancer.
