ArmInfo.The status and security of the NKR are priorities for Armenia. Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan said this at a briefing.
She commenting on the recent statement by the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry who finds ''at ending the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, creation of conditions for the safe and decent return of IDPs, including representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh, to their homes, followed by ensuring broad rights of self-government for the population of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, consisting of its Armenian and Azerbaijani communities".
As Naghdalyan pointed out, Armenia has repeatedly declared its position on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. "The status and security of NKR are priorities for Armenia. The latest is of vital importance for the Armenian population of NKR, which has been subjected to violence by Azerbaijan for several years," she said.
Thus, as the representative of the Foreign Ministry stressed, the peace process should guarantee the NKR population protection from these attacks in the future. The realization of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination should also be ensured. "The people of NKR should be involved in the process and should have a decisive vote," she said. To note in one of his recent interviews, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov said that "Azerbaijan is ready to continue substantive negotiations aimed at beginning a process of a phased settlement of the conflict."
